Todd A. Schafer is a Senior Attorney at Dawda PLC. He concentrates his practice primarily in the area of real estate law.

Todd has extensive experience representing developers, owners, and tenants in property acquisition and disposition and in retail, office, industrial, and warehouse leasing transactions throughout the United States. His experience includes negotiating and drafting purchase, sale, lease, development, and financing agreements, as well as assisting clients with due diligence matters. Todd also regularly works with a client’s consultants, engineers, and surveyors to anticipate and resolve legal concerns related to title, land use, and environmental matters.

Todd earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1992, where he was a contributing editor to the Michigan Journal of International Law and served as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas (Central Student Judiciary). He earned his B.A., with highest distinction, from the University of Michigan in 1989.

He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the State Bar of Illinois. Todd also serves as a member of the Executive, Finance, and Audit committees of Jewish Family Service of Metropolitan Detroit.

Edward C. Dawda is a founding Member of Dawda PLC. He concentrates his legal practice in a broad spectrum of corporate, finance and real estate matters.

Edward is a corporate attorney with an emphasis on transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, the purchase and sale of businesses on stock and asset-based structures, and corporate reorganizations. He has negotiated, drafted, and implemented a broad range of agreements to accomplish ownership transition such as buy-sell agreements, as well as executive employment and compensation agreements and plans, voting agreements and credit agreements. He regularly represents and counsels family-owned businesses. He is counsel to several of Michigan’s most prominent companies and executives, and Michigan counsel to public and private companies located throughout the United States.

Edward has been an active advisor to clients in major retail, commercial and industrial development projects. He is Midwest counsel to several of the country’s largest retailers and developers and is an expert on all facets of shopping center and real estate development. He also handles sophisticated financial transactions, where he serves as counsel to borrowers in securing multimillion-dollar construction, permanent, term and revolving loans and credit facilities. Edward has a successful record in providing value-added legal counsel in a wide range of corporate and real estate transactions.

Robert A. Wright, III is a Member of Dawda PLC. He concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate, lending, and real estate law.

Robert has substantial experience representing financial institutions in the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of commercial and real estate loans, including construction and end mortgage loans, middle market working capital arrangements, buyout financings and participation transactions. He also represents financial institutions in commercial and real estate loan workouts and restructurings.

In addition, Robert has extensive experience advising corporate clients on commercial business issues, including transactional, financial, real estate, taxation, operational and planning matters. Business work includes advising on matters regarding business transactions, and merger, acquisition, and joint venture work from pre-letter of intent negotiations to final closing as well as business formation (corporation, limited liability company and partnership), corporate and shareholder governance.

Robert earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 1995. While there, he served as the Managing Editor of Business and Production of the Law Review. He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1985, an M.B.A. from the University of Detroit in 1988 and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 1996.

Prior to attending law school, Robert worked at Comerica Bank (formerly Manufacturers Bank) from 1985-1992 and was a corporate trust officer.

He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice in the states of Michigan and Illinois.
