Sydney Carmoney is an Associate Attorney at Dawda PLC. Her practice focuses on real estate. She advises clients on a range of transactional matters. During her time at MSU Law, she gained substantive experience through her participation in the Equitable Entrepreneurship and Innovation Law Clinic (EEILC), where she provided counsel to a Homeowner’s Association on amending and restating governing documents, including bylaws and Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CCRs), to implement tree preservation provisions within common areas.

Sydney also served at Lakeshore Legal Aid, where she provided pro bono legal services to underserved communities in Detroit and metro-Detroit. Her work focused on family law matters, including guardianships, wage garnishments, Personal Protection Orders (PPOs), and child custody disputes. This experience strengthened her ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and compassion while advocating effectively for her clients’ interests.

Prior to law school, Sydney earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University’s Seidman College of Business in 2022. James J. Vlasic concentrates his practice in the areas of business planning and organization, and business and trust litigation. James acts as a manager of Villco Management, LLC, a manager of diversified investment companies. He also serves as a director of Vlasic Development, LLC, a real estate development company with offices in southeast Michigan and Colorado.

Todd has extensive experience representing developers, owners, and tenants in property acquisition and disposition and in retail, office, industrial, and warehouse leasing transactions throughout the United States. His experience includes negotiating and drafting purchase, sale, lease, development, and financing agreements, as well as assisting clients with due diligence matters. Todd also regularly works with a client’s consultants, engineers, and surveyors to anticipate and resolve legal concerns related to title, land use, and environmental matters.

Todd earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1992, where he was a contributing editor to the Michigan Journal of International Law and served as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas (Central Student Judiciary). He earned his B.A., with highest distinction, from the University of Michigan in 1989.

Joseph M. Judge is a Member of Dawda PLC. He concentrates his practice on representing commercial property purchasers, sellers, and developers in all aspects of negotiating and closing complex real estate and financing transactions.

Joseph has extensive experience negotiating and drafting commitment letters, purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, development agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, incentive-related agreements and construction and permanent financing loan documents.

Joseph also regularly represents buyers, sellers, and developers of absolute NNN lease properties and other single and multiple net investment properties.

His experience extends to counseling clients on issues related to the formation of the appropriate ownership entity, 1031-exchanges, insurance requirements, land division and platting, condominium law, and pre- and post-development litigation issues. Joseph regularly works with surveyors, engineers, and environmental consultants to anticipate and resolve legal issues related to title, land use and the environment.

Joseph has represented clients in appellate matters before the Michigan Court of Appeals, the New York Supreme Court First Appellate Division, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Joseph is a 1996 cum laude graduate of Wayne State University Law School and a 1993 graduate of Eastern Michigan University. Tyler D. Tennent is a Member of and General Counsel to Dawda PLC. He concentrates his practice in the areas of land use, real estate development, environmental, corporate, and related litigation.

Tyler is land use and environmental counsel to several international, national, and local real estate development companies. His practice involves land use entitlement approvals and environmental development strategies for developers. He also regularly advises clients regarding zoning approvals, land use permitting options, natural resource approvals, liability protections, defending environmental enforcement actions matters, and complex land use entitlement issues such as multi use developments, planned developments, and solar projects. He frequently assists clients with the development and operation of brownfield properties, the attainment of local, state, and national use permits, the securing of tax and financial incentives, the minimization of environmental risks associated with managing hazardous wastes, sustainable practices (LEED trained) and, with the drafting of contracts and corporate policies to avoid liability exposure. He handles cases that involve the transactional effects of environmental liability and advises corporations on the implementation of environmental audit and compliance programs. Tyler has significant litigation expertise representing parties in commercial, land use, and environmental litigation, including local, state, and federal administrative appellate actions and regulatory proceedings.

Additionally, he is counsel to governmental authorities for economic development, brownfield, complex land development matters. Some of the public corporations he has represented include land banks, brownfield authorities, and other economic development entities.

Tyler earned his J.D. in 1984 from Michigan State University College of Law and his B.A. from Michigan State University in 1981.

Edward C. Dawda is a founding Member of Dawda PLC. He concentrates his legal practice in a broad spectrum of corporate, finance and real estate matters.

Edward is a corporate attorney with an emphasis on transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, the purchase and sale of businesses on stock and asset-based structures, and corporate reorganizations. He has negotiated, drafted, and implemented a broad range of agreements to accomplish ownership transition such as buy-sell agreements, as well as executive employment and compensation agreements and plans, voting agreements and credit agreements. He regularly represents and counsels family-owned businesses. He is counsel to several of Michigan’s most prominent companies and executives, and Michigan counsel to public and private companies located throughout the United States.

Halprin, a member of Dawda PLC in Bloomfield Hills, has been practicing exclusively in the area of real estate law since 1993, with a particular emphasis on leasing, acquisition, and disposition transactions. In the leasing area, Daniel regularly represents national, regional, and local landlords and tenants throughout the United States in the structuring, preparation, and negotiation of leases, amendments, expansions, assignments, subleases, subordination and nondisturbance agreements, and related documents for industrial, warehouse, retail, office, and medical office properties.

He also assists clients with loan documentation, conducts title and survey reviews, and manages other due diligence for these projects, including multistate portfolio sales and acquisitions.

Daniel is currently recognized by multiple national and local publications as a top lawyer in the area of real estate law, as outlined below.

In July of 2009, Daniel served on the faculty of a commercial leasing seminar held in Southfield, Michigan.

Daniel was a contributing author to the Real Property Section, 1994 edition of the State of the Law and also assisted with writing an amicus curiae brief filed with the Michigan Supreme Court on behalf of the Real Property Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

Daniel is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the International Conference of Shopping Centers. He received his B.A. from Michigan State University-James Madison College and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
