James Ryan is an Associate Attorney at Dawda PLC. His practice focuses on corporate law and real estate. James graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2024, where he received his business law certificate of concentration with honors. He was the recipient of the prestigious Samson Fellowship, a merit-based award recognizing academic excellence. During his time at UW Law, James served as Vice President of the Real Estate and Securities Investments Society, demonstrating his commitment to professional development in his practice areas.

While in law school, James served as a student attorney at the Wisconsin Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, where he gained substantive transactional experience. He drafted operating agreements for scaling service businesses, prepared partnership agreements for entrepreneurs launching new applications, and assisted in negotiating leasing contracts for nonprofit organizations to ensure compliance with tax credit regulations. This experience developed his practical skills in structuring business entities and advising entrepreneurs on legal and operational matters.

James also served as a judicial intern at the Wisconsin Supreme Court for Justice Rebecca G. Bradley. In this capacity, he drafted bench memoranda summarizing case facts and procedural posture while providing recommended rulings. He conducted extensive legal research into statutory interpretation and constitutional issues to assist the Justices in preparing for oral arguments. This experience strengthened his analytical abilities and deepened his understanding of appellate practice and judicial decision-making.

Prior to law school, James earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government with honors from Michigan State University in 2018. He achieved Dean’s List recognition in four of five semesters during his undergraduate studies at Michigan State.

Before joining Dawda PLC, James practiced as an Associate Attorney at Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC, where he specialized in commercial litigation and corporate transactional work. He assisted in the due diligence process for mergers, acquisitions, and investment transactions. His work included advising on the structuring of joint ventures, assessing equity contributions, and drafting debt financing arrangements and mutual non-disclosure agreements. He also drafted corporate governance documents, including bylaws, operating agreements, and shareholder agreements, as well as purchase and sale agreements for commercial assets. Previously, he served as a Summer Associate at Foster Swift in 2023.

James’s approach to client service emphasizes thorough analysis, practical solutions, and clear communication. He is committed to delivering strategic counsel that protects his clients’ interests while helping them achieve their business objectives.

Neil Silver is a Member of Dawda PLC, having joined the firm in 2018. Throughout his career, Neil has focused his practice on real estate law, environmental law, corporate law, and banking.

Prior to entering private practice, Neil served as general counsel for Sterling Bank and subsequently as Vice President in the law department of NBD Bank where he was responsible for drafting loan documentation and the bank’s environmental policies and procedures.

Neil represents clients in complex real estate, banking and commercial transactions, corporate/business formation, and contract negotiation and drafting. He currently acts as corporation counsel for several large and small businesses. In addition, he is counsel for several local and national financial institutions, as well as for certified development corporations, and is designated counsel for the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Neil is highly regarded as one of the area’s leading experts in environmental law and has testified numerous times before the House and Senate subcommittees on environmental issues, in addition to having authored several current state and federal statutes.

Dana Kreis Glencer is a Member with Dawda PLC. She specializes in commercial real estate and business transactions.

Dana has assisted clients in transactional real estate matters involving the negotiation and documentation of agreements for the purchase and sale of commercial real estate, the acquisition and disposition of property, the development of shopping centers, and leasing of commercial retail and office space.

Dana’s practice also includes counseling clients regarding general business and corporate matters, such as business planning, entity formation, and asset purchases and sales.

Additionally, Dana has prior litigation experience in a variety of residential real estate matters, including the representation of financial institutions and mortgage companies in contested mortgage foreclosures and eviction proceedings. Her prior experience also includes bankruptcy and commercial litigation, as well as the representation of creditors and debtors in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings. Randal R. Cole

Randal R. Cole is a Member with Dawda PLC. Prior to receiving his law degree, Randal worked for a management consulting firm which led him into employment and labor law where he has significant experience defending employers against employment claims. His litigation includes a broad spectrum of areas including: The handling of complex cases related to land and title issues for national title companies; providing advice to Tier II and Tier III automotive clients with supplier issues, as well as initiating and defending litigation in both Michigan and other states relating to supplier and production issues; drafting and providing advice on estate plans; successfully resolving complex probate matters on behalf of both private clients and national charitable organizations; handling commercial landlord tenant disputes; filing and litigating classification of proofs of claim in bankruptcy court; initiating and defending adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court; and representing financial institutions on forbearance and collection matters.

Randal has extensive experience in both state and federal courts and has handled appellate cases in both the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. His experience in administrative forums includes representing clients before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, and Michigan Employment Security Agency.

He has also arbitrated private claims, both with the American Arbitration Association (JAMS) and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Randal regularly counsels clients in union and non-union facilities, on issues such as disciplinary and termination procedures; preparing employee handbooks, individual employment agreements, work rules, policies, and separation agreements; and on implementation of reduction-in-force programs. He is also experienced in collective bargaining with a number of different unions and has participated in the prevention of several organizing campaigns.

Randal earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1996, and his B.A. from Kalamazoo College, in 1991, where he was a Chamberlain Fellow. He received a Germany University Fellowship for graduate work in the Federal Republic of Germany. He is admitted to practice in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Labor and Employment Law Section, and was Vice-Chairman of the Oakland County Bar Association Employment and Labor Law Committee (2001-2002). Randal has lectured for various civic groups in the Detroit Metropolitan Area and is a member of the Board of Directors of The Heidelberg Project, a non-profit organization.

Tyler D. Tennent is a Member of and General Counsel to Dawda PLC. He concentrates his practice in the areas of land use, real estate development, environmental, corporate, and related litigation.

Tyler is land use and environmental counsel to several international, national, and local real estate development companies. His practice involves land use entitlement approvals and environmental development strategies for developers. He also regularly advises clients regarding zoning approvals, land use permitting options, natural resource approvals, liability protections, defending environmental enforcement actions matters, and complex land use entitlement issues such as multi use developments, planned developments, and solar projects. He frequently assists clients with the development and operation of brownfield properties, the attainment of local, state, and national use permits, the securing of tax and financial incentives, the minimization of environmental risks associated with managing hazardous wastes, sustainable practices (LEED trained) and, with the drafting of contracts and corporate policies to avoid liability exposure. He handles cases that involve the transactional effects of environmental liability and advises corporations on the implementation of environmental audit and compliance programs. Tyler has significant litigation expertise representing parties in commercial, land use, and environmental litigation, including local, state, and federal administrative appellate actions and regulatory proceedings.

Additionally, he is counsel to governmental authorities for economic development, brownfield, complex land development matters. Some of the public corporations he has represented include land banks, brownfield authorities, and other economic development entities.

Tyler earned his J.D. in 1984 from Michigan State University College of Law and his B.A. from Michigan State University in 1981.

Edward C. Dawda is a founding Member of Dawda PLC. He concentrates his legal practice in a broad spectrum of corporate, finance and real estate matters.

Edward is a corporate attorney with an emphasis on transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, the purchase and sale of businesses on stock and asset-based structures, and corporate reorganizations. He has negotiated, drafted, and implemented a broad range of agreements to accomplish ownership transition such as buy-sell agreements, as well as executive employment and compensation agreements and plans, voting agreements and credit agreements. He regularly represents and counsels family-owned businesses. He is counsel to several of Michigan’s most prominent companies and executives, and Michigan counsel to public and private companies located throughout the United States.

Edward has been an active advisor to clients in major retail, commercial and industrial development projects. Erin Bowen Welch is a Member at Dawda PLC. She concentrates her practice in the areas of real estate, business and corporate transactions. As part of her practice, Erin regularly advises clients on all aspects of acquisition, disposition, and leasing of real property, commercial, residential and mixed-use developments, and real estate-related finance transactions. She also counsels individuals and businesses as to general business matters and estate and succession planning.

Erin graduated from Miami University in 2010, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in English Literature and Journalism. In 2013, she graduated with a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, summa cum laude. While in law school, she served as an editor for the Michigan State University Law Review and as a member of the Trial Practice Institute.

Erin is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Real Property Law Section, the Oakland County Bar Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and Impact100 Oakland County. She serves on the board of trustees for Leaps and Bounds Family Services, a non-profit agency dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults.

Erin is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and the State of Illinois. She is also a licensed real estate broker in the State of Michigan.
