Brandon Hayes is an Associate Attorney at Dawda PLC. His practice focuses on corporate law, taxation, and estate planning. He advises businesses and individuals on corporate transactions, entity structuring, tax planning, and estate planning, and drafts the documents those matters require. With a background in public accounting, Brandon looks at legal questions with the financial and tax picture in mind.
Before joining Dawda PLC, Brandon was a Senior Associate in Ernst & Young’s Business Tax Services practice in New York City, where he advised Fortune 500 companies on federal tax planning, compliance, and business advisory matters. He has passed all four sections of the CPA exam. Having worked with both multinational corporations and closely held businesses, Brandon knows legal advice has to fit a client’s broader business and personal goals.
Brandon earned his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He received his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 2024, where he served as President of the Tax Law Society, and his Bachelor of Accountancy from Walsh College in 2018.
During law school, Brandon worked in the Alvin L. Storrs Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, assisting taxpayers with audits, collection matters, liens and levies, and offers in compromise before the Internal Revenue Service and the Michigan Department of Treasury. He also interned with Plante Moran’s National Tax Office, where he handled tax research, accounting method changes, tax controversy matters, and projects involving Section 1202 of the Internal Revenue Code, and with UHY LLP’s Gifts, Trusts, and Estates Strategies Group, where he worked on estate, gift, and trust taxation.
Brandon is admitted to practice in Michigan and New York and before the United States Tax Court.
